County Hurling League Division 3 Semi-Final: Newport 2-17 Lorrha 0-20

Lorrha Newport 090623

Hard luck to our Premier Intermediate hurlers who were narrowly beaten by Newport in the semi-finals of the County Hurling League on Friday night in Newport.

Newport enjoyed a period of dominance in the closing 10 minutes of the first half, scoring two goals to build an eight-point lead at the interval (2-8 v 0-6).

Our lads slowly cut that deficit at the beginning of the second half, with the gap reduced to two points on multiple occasions. Despite an excellent second half display, we couldn’t get on level terms and the final whistle was blown on our County Hurling League campaign.

This game was a refixture of the semi-final played two weeks ago, which unfortunately had to be cancelled due to a serious shoulder injury to David Sullivan. Best wishes to David as he continues his recovery.

The North Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship is next on the horizon, and the fixtures will only become clear once Tipperary’s participation in the All-Ireland Championship comes to a conclusion. Lorrha have received a bye to the semi-finals in that competition.
