Lorrha return to Senior status – Lorrha 2-13 Thurles Sarsfields 0-18

Our Premier Intermediate hurlers secured back to back promotions in thrilling fashion with a 2-13 to 0-18 win over Thurles Sarsfields in the replay of the County Premier Intermediate Hurling Final last Saturday, 21 October.

The team has bounced back in incredible fashion from disappointing relegation in 2021, to jump two grades in two years. Lorrha will be playing for the Dan Breen Cup in 2024!

In Saturday’s replay in Nenagh, Lorrha got off to an excellent start including a Cian Hogan goal, and that was added to with a terrific strike from Bonner after around 25 minutes. Thurles fought their way back into the game however, and took the lead briefly with around five minutes left.

However, the Lorrha lads showed incredible heart and determination to turn things around in the closing stages, with Cian Hogan’s third point giving us a lead which we wouldn’t relinquish.

Congratulations to the entire panel of players, as well as the backroom team spearheaded by Ken Hogan, Conor Sullivan, Brian Carroll and Shane Brophy.

The lads will now embark on a Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship campaign, starting with a quarter-final against Corofin of Clare on Sunday, November 5 (1.30pm, Nenagh).
