Senior Hurling: Well done to the seniors on their 2-21 to 2-18 win over Roscrea in round 2 of the County League on Sunday in Roscrea.

Lorrha laid the platform for the victory in the first half, when backed by the breeze, they opened up a nine point lead at half time, 2-12 to 0-9. An early Donnacha O’Meara goal gave them the tonic start with the game thereafter being nip and tuck until Lorrha scored a second goal on 27 minutes, O’Meara fouled for a penalty which Colm Fogarty converted.

Fogarty was in superb form for Lorrha, contributing 1-14, 0-5 from play, maintaining their advantage until the 40th minute when a Shane Fletcher goal gave the home side some impetus. Lorrha managed to reassert their control until a 55th minute Luke Cashin goal (1-6) gave Roscrea some hope of getting something from the game and they reduced the arrears to one point but two late points from Lorrha helped them to a three point win with Conor Kennedy and Eoin McIntyre also the fore for the victors while Evan Fitzpatrick and Darragh Tynan were to the fore for the Rossies.

They are out again in a fortnight’s time at home to Moycarkey/Borris.
