Congratulations to our Junior B hurlers who have reached the North Final after a hard fought win over Silvermines on Saturday evening.
It was a great sight to see the big Lorrha support at Tony Reddin Park as we hosted this game on a perfect evening for hurling, with the ball hopping off the dry sod.
After a tense and low-scoring first 20 minutes, we were trailing by a few points before two quick-fire goals before half time from Donnacha O’Meara and Neil Houlihan.
The lads managed to keep Silvermines at arm’s length in the second half, but the gap was closed to two points midway through the half. Lorrha finished strong however in front of the home support, and Willie Hough put the seal on the victory with a third goal late in injury time.
They go on to face Portroe in the North Final, which is provisionally fixed for next Sunday afternoon in Nenagh. Our Intermediate hurlers will face Boherlahan-Dualla in the County Championship earlier in the day in Dolla at 12 noon.
Please get the Lorrha flags out in the coming days as we aim to bring back the North Junior B Championship for the first time since 2003.
